Protective Orders
While a protective order can have different applications, the most common reason for obtaining one is when domestic violence or other marital offenses have been documented and experienced. Protective orders are intended to provide a limited period of initial protection for the victimized party, depending on the situation and jurisdiction. A Court hearing to further assess the situation and determine if the protective order should be extended or further action should be taken typically occurs during this period.
