Divorce Services
Based on jurisdiction, the basis for which a Court may grant a divorce differs. In some states, such as Virginia and Maryland, marital misconduct can be grounds for divorce. In others, such as the District of Columbia, marital misconduct is not a ground for divorce though it may be considered by a Court in addressing alimony and property division issues. Typical areas for resolution in a divorce are custody, child and spousal support, and equitable distribution of marital assets. Consulting a lawyer is advisable for understanding and settling most divorce cases.
